Candidate Brief:


Our client now requires an exceptional and an enthusiastic Advanced Engineer to join the team. The successful candidate will be a senior member of our clients Networking and Telecommunications team. 

The position will be part of a dynamic team located in London. The role requires the Advanced Engineer to have a solid understanding of our client’s global network and be able to diagnose and respond to issues as they arise

Candidates are required to have good analytical and technical skills, strong interpersonal skills and be a team player, with a proven desire and ability to quickly pickup new processes and technologies.

The successful candidate will be expected to be proficient in Cisco Routing & Switching technologies This role suits a professional, flexible and client focused individual with the need to be able to work independently and pull in resources when needed.

As an Advanced Engineer your primary responsibilities will be to:
Troubleshoot, resolve and document issues for client’s in a timely manner.Design, implement and validate configurations while providing highly reliable services with minimal downtime.Establish the company’s environment by designing infrastructure configuration; directing installation; defining, documenting, and enforcing system standards.Maximize performance through design and configuration of monitoring tools; troubleshooting problems and outages; scheduling upgrades; collaborating with other IT resources on optimization.Work closely with the Information Security team to secure the network by establishing and enforcing policies; defining and monitoring access.Report operational status by gathering, prioritizing information; managing projects.Configure and setup Firewalls, VPN Concentrators and Security appliances for access to vital business applications.Design, setup and configure complex switching environmentsDesign, setup and configure complex wireless networking that supports open or secured access and the ability to support voice and video applications.Maintain a thorough understanding of Local and Wide Area security architectures.Assist in the design of multi-server environments including IP address schemes, DNS, and hierarchical design.Maintain multi-site operations and software applications, operating systems and regular maintenance with both private and public facilities.Manage assigned projects and program components to deliver services in accordance with established objectives.Respond to inquiries from staff, administrators, service providers, site personnel and outside vendors to provide technical assistance and support.Supervise the administration of the company’s infrastructure to ensure availability of services to authorized users.Troubleshoot malfunctions of hardware and software applications, telephones and security systems to resolve operational issues and restore services.Provide 24/7 availability and participate in on-call rotation.Maintain disaster recover.Accept and monitor fault calls.Run daily back-up and resilience testing. The ideal Advanced Engineer will have the following skills and experience:
Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems/Technology or equivalent job experienceLAN / WAN experience in a Cisco environmentTrading or FCM network experienceStrong critical thinking and problem-solving skillsExcellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skillsOccasional travel may be required.Strong technical, analytical and interpersonal skills that include the ability to communicate in an understandable, polite and friendly manner, both written and verbal.Advanced Cisco certifications, such as CCNP/CCNDP or CCIE are beneficial.Knowledge of VoIP implementation and supportMaintain network security through proper configuration of VPN and FirewallsStrong organizational skills and ability to multi-task in a small business environmentAvailability in response to needs of the customer for installation, maintenance and equipment malfunctions during off hours when needed.Demonstrates a strong knowledge and competence of standard concepts, best practices, and operational procedures.A natural sense of urgency, initiative and a positive team player philosophy to be reflected in daily work ethics; strong problem solving skills and ability to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines. In return the Engineer will receive a salary between £55,000 pa - £60,000 pa (DOE)
