The Vento-Tormo lab is seeking a senior/principal bioinformatician (dependant on experience) to work on immunogenomics, developmental transcriptomics and genetics. Our group aims to understand the influence of cellular micro-environments on defining cellular identities. To perform this research, we make use of state-of-the-art technological advances, such as (but not limited to): single cell transcriptomics and chromatin accessibility sequencing, spatial transcriptomics and whole genome sequencing.

We have access to extensive collections of sample repositories through collaboration with local and international groups. We are significant contributors to the Human Cell Atlas and the Human Developmental Cell Atlas projects, an international project to systematically map all cells in the body across the lifespan. You will be embedded in a multidisciplinary team and lead and coordinate an exciting research project constructing a transcriptomic map of germ cells and gametes across the lifespan.

Your primary activities will be to: i) coordinate the project with project partners and team members; ii) analyse single cell and spatial transcriptomics data to characterise the cell states present in the tissue and their communication at different developmental and adult stages and suggested validation strategies to confirm your findings; iii) support and participate in the development of new computational methods to study cellular communication and gene regulatory networks from single-cell and spatial transcriptomics data.

The position would suit a Bioinformatician/Statistician who enjoys developing algorithms and statistical modelling to analyse complex transcriptomics data sets. For more information on our group visit www.VenToLab.org and the Vento-Tormo group page
