DevOps Engineer, Linux, PHP, AWS, Systems Administrator

A DevOps Engineer is required for my client who is a leading independent media and entertainment company located in the centre of Oxford. The DevOps Engineer will be working within a small team of Engineers and play a vital part in building great cloud focused products and services within a highly technical and niche environment. The DevOps Engineer will also be part of the team as they expand and set up the DevOps tool kit, testing and playing around with the latest technologies to fit in with business requirements.

The ideal DevOps Engineer will have experience in software development and have an in-depth understanding of robust deployment processes but as they are open to a variety of levels, someone coming from a Software Engineer, Developer, Systems Engineer or Administrator background could also be suitable. As the area of DevOps grows within the business someone from a DBA background or Software/Application Support Analyst background could work too. The main thing you need is a great overview of technology and how DevOps can benefit a tech organisation. Great communication skills are also vital as the team is collaborative and social.

You'll be working within a tight-knit development team on exciting projects with plenty of technical challenge to get your teeth into.

We are looking for a minimum 1 year of experience in a commercial environment - working within one area of either development or support and infrastructure.

A strong academic background is also preferred, with a degree in computing, science, mathematics or similar, or equivalent industry experience but this is by no means a prerequisite for the role.

Someone with experience in the entertainment industry - Media, Gaming, TV, Publishing etc would be useful.

The DevOps Engineer will have the following Desirable skills:

Linux/Unix experience

Ideally some knowledge of MySQL, Oracle or similar databases
