We have partnered with one of the UK's leading Big Data & Analytics companies in search of a talented Software Developer to join them in their Abingdon office. The Software Developer will be joining a software customer support team working on various projects for reputable clients in the industries of Science, Technology and Aerospace. Ideally the Software Developer will have some commercial experience with an OOP language such as C, C++, C#, Java or Python, as well as a good academic background.

 

As the new Software Developer you will be tasked with developing software / system enhancements, fixing bugs, and ensuring that applications remain up to date with modern software technologies. The position of Software Developer is a challenging and dynamic one where each project will be different in size, scale and technology, giving you the opportunity to expand your own tech stack.

 

 

Responsibilities of the Software Developer include:

 

You will have the opportunity to work on a variety of interesting projects for leading organisations and you will further your own experience in a wide range of technologies.

Software solutions - carry out software enhancement projects over a range of applications.

Provide software support to aid with diagnosis of problems and incident resolution.

Investigate and resolve in-depth customer queries and underlying software issues.

Handle incidents, documenting and informing customers of progress.

 

 

Skills and Experience:

 

A good understanding of object-oriented programming

Software development experience in one or more of the following: Java, Python, C, C# or C++.

The eagerness and capacity to quickly learn new technologies and apply your skills to unsolved challenges.

Good analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities at once.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Knowledge of Agile software development methodologies

The ability to explain complex technical solutions to clients and colleagues from different backgrounds.

BSc or MSc or PhD in STEM related subject.
