Under the direction of the Senior IT Officer, to provide a Helpdesk and Desk side support service to the Commission's users of IT and to ensure that their systems function effectively in a trouble-free manner. To help the Commission's staff make the best possible use of their IT systems.

Main Responsibilities

*To work on a busy IT helpdesk providing telephone and desktop support to 150 staff, over 4 sites and full time home workers.

*To troubleshoot and resolve day to day IT problems (Helpdesk and Desktop Support)

*To be responsible for logging queries and problems in the IT Helpdesk System.

*To take ownership of IT problems and to make sure that they are resolved within agreed timescales

*To assist in the Commission's hardware replacement programme configuring PCs and other equipment

*To ensure that the Commission's MFD's perform satisfactorily and are kept supplied with consumables

*To provide advice, guidance and basic one-to-one training in the use of the Commission's IT systems

*To ensure that new users are set up correctly and that leavers accounts are removed or disabled

*To help to secure the Commission's IT systems to guarantee the security and integrity of its data

*To stock take IT consumables, order new supplies and assist with auditing IT equipment

*To troubleshoot issues with the Commission's IP Telephony & Video Conferencing system and its mobile devices and to ensure that regular updates are provided to the outsourced switchboard service.

General

*To participate in the Commission's Performance Appraisal process ensuring own personal development and contributing to the overall performance of the IT team.

Key Working Relationships

*The role requires communication with staff at all levels within the Commission providing IT support and guidance.

*Daily communication with Line Manager and regular one to ones.

Personal Specification

*Part-Qualified or Qualified Windows 7/10 MSCA or equivalent experience

*Experience in an IT support role or equivalent work

*MS Office 2013/2016 or Office 365 expertise

*Knowledge of PC/Laptop Installation, maintenance and troubleshooting

*Knowledge of printer installation, maintenance and troubleshooting

*Proven ability to resolve problems relating to PCs, peripherals and office systems software.

*Ability to diagnose and resolve everyday technical problems in the hardware and software used by the Commission

*Ability to prioritise tasks on a daily basis and to reprioritise when necessary

*Ability to communicate solutions to technical problems in a simple non-technical way to users
