In a nutshell

Responsible for providing technical leadership and defining strategy for technical aspects of IT testing (primarily test automation). You'll define and lead a medium- to long-term road-map for adoption and maturity improvement.

You'll take part in defining and governing standards, methods, tools, frameworks and approaches and for ensuring that they are cost-effective and future-proof.

You'll have a passion for delivering training, mentoring, coaching and consultancy related to test automation. You'll care that teams and individuals can follow standards and that test automation is applied effectively.

Day to day

Definition of test automation strategy including standards, approach, frameworks, tools, languages, test data, etc. (covering functional and non-functional test automation) 

Definition and management of a 2-5 year roadmap for test automation improvements

Analysis and evaluation of emerging trends, technologies, tools, etc.

Promoting benefits of test automation and specific test automation practices among all our partners including senior leaders, PMs/SMs, developers, testers, BAs, etc.

Approving of how standards are applied to specific projects or contexts ensuring test automation activities conform to standards

You'll maintain our documentation and templates

Report progress against roadmap and define and collect meaningful metrics.

You'll look after our tools and make sure they are appropriate and effective, appropriate tool integration and you'll support their maintenance.

About you

You will have a good knowledge of test automation and experience of implementing, documenting, governing and maintaining test automation frameworks.

You'll have worked with a wide range of test automation tools, languages, frameworks, etc. and will have previously applied test automation at multiple levels (UI / API / Unit / Data / etc.). You'll have experience of implementing automation frameworks for both desktop and mobile apps, and will have experience of incorporating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines

We love the techy stuff but we also need you to be used to leading, planning and managing testing across multiple complex projects and programmes with conflicting priorities.

 

We don't just work with computers so we'd love it if you are a confident communicator with experience of working effectively with people from all levels as well as third party suppliers which will enable you to build and maintain partner relationships and negotiate and mediate successfully.

 

We'd love you to have airline experience but we know we can't have it all so if this isn't in your toolkit it's still worth applying. If you have validated experience of applying commercial judgement in understanding, managing, resolving and communicating technical business risks and issues, we would love to hear from you.
