An exciting new opportunity in the West Midlands to become part of a sensational new research and development challenge of developing technology for electric vehicles with the backing of a well-established manufacturer. It is an exciting time to join as currently the company are in a significant period of growth which is planned to continue.

My client is focusing on cutting-edge research and development of electronic based products and technology including control systems for electric vehicles, signalling systems, power supply solutions and component products for various applications across a wide power range. This research will be applicable to key growth markets, including electric vehicles and other markets like aerospace, power distribution and renewable energy.

Over the coming years, my client is expected to grow to include hundreds of research and development engineers and are now searching for a Senior Hardware Engineer.

Key Responsibilities

* Leading and participating in model-based hardware development from high level architecture design through to implementation,

* Hardware design, schematic and PCB review, component selection review

* Leading development of the next-generation control hardware platform meeting the functional safety requirements

* Provision of requirements input for design, analysis, simulation, and testing. Provision of input for the generation of technical specifications, proposals and other documentations

* Support to the head of department in determining technology road map and specifying development milestone

* Teamwork with embedded software engineer to specify hardware architecture

* Support functional safety engineer to evaluate functional safety performance of control hardware Core Skills and Education

* Bachelors degree in electronics/ electronics related discipline

* At least 4 years hardware development working experience in automotive Tier 1 supplier or OEM

* Familiar with ISO26262 hardware design and analysis

* Excellent capability of selecting electronic components, reading datasheet, sufficient experience on adjudicating the optimal solution

* Familiar with schematic and PCB design

* Desirable Technical Skillset

* Familiar with CPLD, FPGA circuit design

* SPI, CAN, FlexRay or Ethernet etc communication circuit design

* ASIC circuit development experience

* Familiar with NXP or Infineon processors and peripheral circuit design
