The Project Manager (Scrum Master) is accountable for the full range of project activities that will ensure successful delivery of technology driven change initiatives to the business. As well as responsibility for their own deliverables, co-ordination with the output of other Project Managers within the Projects Delivery Team is required, working collaboratively to deliver a consistent experience to the business community, while ensuring that their work both fits within the standards defined by the organisation and the strategic objectives of the change initiatives for which they are responsible.

The holder of this role is committed to excellence in delivering technology driven business change, from pre-project to successful transition into BAU. As part of the work they undertake, they are expected to gain a thorough understanding of a range of processes and platforms used within the organisation.

Typically, work is delivered as part of specific programmes or projects either by the IT and Business Change function, or directly by a business unit, potentially in conjunction with third party vendors.

The focus of the role is not only to structure and execute projects, but also to take responsibility for the successful implementation of changes into the normal state of business that will enable the organisation to achieve its strategic objectives.

This may include the effective delivery of outsourced services to the business as well as use of internal resources.

The Project Manager (Scrum Master) will be confident in diplomatically challenging up to executive level decisions that conflict with the scope or strategic direction of the assigned projects. As well as acting as a scrum master, specific tasks will require such skills as resource and budget management, influencing and negotiation, co-ordination of multiple work streams, strategic and logical thinking, risk management, planning, prioritisation, and initiative taking, all in combination with superb communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

Perform a combination of the following duties according to departmental guidelines:

* Work with senior stakeholders and product owners to manage assigned work, ensuring projects deliver to and meet managements expectations

* Operate the full range of agile procedures, including daily scrums, sprint planning sessions, sprint reviews, and sprint retrospectives

* Produce and manage project plans and sprint burn down charts, including tracking of time, budget and resource against agreed targets in line with established project governance procedures

* Challenge proposed changes to ensuring re that they fit within the companys

* strategy and appetite for risk, solving genuine problems and enhancing business value

* Coordinate projects through all stages of the business change cycle, from initial problem analysis through to user acceptance and into business as usual operations

* Breakdown and explain complex concepts to senior stakeholders

* Act as liaison between the project, business units, IT, and external parties

* Adhere to and champion project management and agile best practices

* Work with project steering groups to ensure that change initiatives remain on scope and tightly focused, to time and budget, delivering measurable business benefit through the controlled implementation of enterprise change

* Ensure assigned projects are appropriately resourced

* Manage your own time and workload in line with project plans, as well as the that of the resources assigned to your project

* Escalate issues as appropriate

* Identify, mitigate and manage project risks and issues

* Perform other duties as directed

* Adhere to change, project, and analysis standards

Education & Experience

As a minimum:

* At least five years solid, project management experience

* Able to demonstrate the successful delivery of complex, multi-work stream business and technology change programmes over multiple engagements

* An understanding of insurance (preferably) or financial services (more generally) as a business

* Evidence of working with all levels of an organisation

* Confident, but with a level of self-awareness.

A distinct advantage would be:

* A professional qualification in the field of project management

* A scrum master or equivalent certification

* A track record of operating as a scrum master in an agile environment

* Experience with subscription-based specialist insurance, specifically Lloyds or Companies Market

* CII certification

* Experience with change management methodologies

* Experience with Lean and/or process re-engineering
