Power BI Developer - £350-£450 - Berkshire - 6 months

You will play a key role in embedding and delivering Power BI as the central business reporting tool. You will provide the technical and analytical expertise required to gather requirements for and build a management information platform, with significant self-serve capability. Your immediate requirement will be to introduce and support a Power BI platform for our Sales department, but it is anticipated that this will grow into an Enterprise platform and ultimately support all areas of the Business.

The role

* Acting as the subject matter expert for Power BI

* Working closely with key Business Users to establish and document the full detailed requirements for the range of reporting required

* Analysis of legacy reporting solutions and designing effective Power BI alternatives

* Acting as a promoter of Power BI and a generator of ideas as to how it can be used to fully leverage all data sources and produce effective reporting

* End to end documentation including architecture designs, technical specifications and end user support guides

* Design and implement the appropriate infrastructure to support the Power BI reporting platform

* Support other non-technical users within the business in their use of Power BI as a self-service tool

* Deliver a platform that is as much focused on self-serving capabilities as possible.

The person

* Substantial experience of using MS power BI as a reporting development tool.

* Experience of using the following as data sources for Power BI reports:

- RDBMS databases (ideally Oracle & MySQL);

- Hadoop Big Data components (e.g. Hive);

- Flat Files;

- SAP Hana (desirable);

- APIs (desirable).

* Comprehensive SQL skills that will enable you to retrieve and manipulate data from our RDBMS databases and present to a power BI layer

* Experience in optimizing capabilities that will ensure optimal performance of reporting

* Full knowledge and experience in the configuration / setup / licensing of power BI within an operational business entity

* Experience of integrating Power BI reporting with SharePoint

* Knowledge of how Power BI can be effectively integrated with other tools in the 365 suite such as Teams, Flow and Power Apps

* Excellent experience and knowledge of the mechanisms around delivering Power BI as an effective self-service platform

* Experience in delivering basic training to non-development users

* Excellent stakeholder engagement and extensive requirements gathering skills

* Excellent written and verbal skills both for user presentation and explanation and for technical and requirements documentation.
