Head of Software Development Role

As Head of Software Development, you'll lead the Software Development and DBA team (19 headcount total with a direct report Team Leader) in delivering against demand, ensuring that departmental and business objectives are achieved, in addition to developing and contributing to an engaging, empowering and motivating working environment, and overall culture.

An excellent opportunity for you join the Group IT leadership Team, reporting to the Group Director, IT & Business Systems, leading the way in being a Cromwell Ambassador showcasing your expertise in leading Scrum teams and having the overall drive to deliver great IT services.

Head of Software Development Role responsibilities include:

* Functional Manager duties including budget creation, stakeholder management and relationship building with partners, suppliers, internal / external teams and resource allocation

* Create and maintain a positive employee culture of good communications, customer care and continuous improvement

* Attract, retain and develop talent in the function

* Undertake incident, problem, change management and project work across the organisation

* Ensure the correct Change Control Systems and IT Controls are implemented, maintained and followed - leading through experience and knowledge of complicated software projects

* Code Review, but not hands on development

* Work with suppliers and colleagues to assist in transformation and shared projects, contributing to the strategic aims of the department and organisation - utilising project management methodology and agile practices, where appropriate, to enhance communication and assist in planning for any development or change

* Plan, co-ordinate and chair team meetings and regular project development progress reviews involving other departments/stakeholders

The ideal Head of Software Development:

* Authentic leadership skills with proven people management experience and a strong desire to develop talent within a complex multi-national environment

* A deep understanding of Agile Methodology and experience of leading scrum teams

* Able to effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical users at all levels of an organisation

* Experience of using Agile Methodologies and Project Management techniques

* Knowledge of IT controls / change control environments and their requirements

* Understanding of development languages and environments

* Computer based degree or equivalent Business qualification / equivalent experience

* Continuous improvement (CI/BI) mind-set
