As the Risk Management Lead within the business this role will lead the development and implementation of appropriate risk management solutions within the business area, aligned with the corporate best practice, and ensuring that these approaches optimise the opportunity to improve IDT and business delivery performance (primarily cost, schedule and customer relationship).

The post holder will work closely with the project teams in each IDT to identify, develop and deliver appropriate risk management solutions and support the identification and realisation of improvement in business performance.

This role is responsible for the development and implementation of tailored risk management solutions for all projects and programmes delivered within the IDTs in the business area.

Key Accountabilities

Lead and influence the implementation of project risk management within the business area and at all levels upwards as required by the business and functional leadership.

Work closely with programme leadership and teams to develop and implement tailored risk strategies for all projects and programmes within the IDT.

Be the recognised expert and the focal point for risk management function within the business area

Lead, coordinate and support the project delivery teams in implementing and reporting the agreed risk management approaches

Agree (with each project/programme manager) the achievable business performance benefits as the result of implementing the identified risk approaches

Responsible for the continuous improvement of related processes and business performance reporting and for recommending improvements to corporate systems

Benchmarking business performance in conjunction with the Performance Excellence function and other Group businesses to provide perspective of performance across all IDTs

Key Capabilities/Knowledge

Recognised specialist expert for knowledge and application of Risk Management best practice and the application of risk management systems and implementation in support of delivering business performance

Able to understand the broader operational implications of the risk management solution proposed and provide recommendations.

Able to lead on and present the value and business benefits of the proposed risk solution to the senior stakeholders, using appropriate quantitative and qualitative analyses

Able to engage and communicate effectively with a variety of key stakeholders across the IDT/Business

Act at a detailed analytical level to develop solutions that are pragmatic and suitably tailored to the needs of the IDT/business

Experience & Qualifications

Proven record in the scoping, developing and implementing risk solutions across the project lifecycle, in a variety of project/programme and technical complexities

Proven record in developing risk solutions that improve project performance

Expertise in developing tailored and robust risk strategies and plans, appropriate to the project/programme complexity

Strong track record in risk management including: risk strategy development; risk management planning; quantitative risk analysis; risk response planning; risk register set-up, population and management; risk maturity assessment

Experienced in collaboratively supporting multiple project and delivery teams within a business

A qualification or certification in Risk Management or Project Management is desirable

Membership of an appropriate professional organisation is desirable (such as APM, IRM)

Experience in the use of proprietary risk tools such as Active Risk Manager, Predict!, Oracle Primavera Risk Analysis (PertMaster), @Risk, Deltek Acumen is desirable
