We are currently looking for multiple Python & JavaScript Developers to join a growing software company based in central Bath. Your role will be to help with some ambitions development plans that will require the design and implementation of new features via an improved UX, designed with a mobile-first philosophy. This company use a number of third party SaaS systems to drive business, and glue everything together with their own database and API.
The person we would like for this phenomenal opportunity will be a great all-rounder, enjoy working in a creative, dynamic and sometimes high-pressure environment and not be afraid to get stuck in with varying tasks from time to time. One minute you might we working on an API to allow a third party system to access data, the next configuring the automatic deployment of code to a set of cloud instances, the next making sure a page renders exactly as the designer envisioned it with a creative combination of JavaScript and CSS. Variety is the keyword; this is a small team so everyone gets to do everything.
Because of this, the role is intended for a mid-range developer with at least three years appropriate experience.
This company uses a variety of technologies and while we do not expect you to have used all of them, a good range of experience with similar systems is an advantage. As a minimum a good working knowledge of Python and JavaScript are essential, and experience with API-based development is strongly desirable.
Day to day responsibilities will include:
Translating the designs for improved functionality and features into a working website using a combination of JavaScript frameworks and Django
Working out data structures and coding business logic to support the functionality of the site, using Django and PostgreSQL
Maintaining cloud servers on AWS and using DevOps/CD technologies including Docker, Quay.io
Crafting and improving an API to support the business logic of the site
Integrating data with 3rd party SaaS systems via this API and their own systems
