An e-commerce company with several successful websites across a number of industries including healthcare, personal protective equipment and sports and fitness is seeking an in-house API Interface Developer to join their expanding team in Clapham, London. They are constantly launching new websites and moving into new sectors. Due to their growth and success, they are now looking for someone who can develop software for in-house use that enables faster and more productive data and order processing using their REST API.

This is the ideal role for someone with a range of high level computer skills. We require an experienced and enthusiastic candidate who can translate the needs of the business into in-house technology solutions.

Here are the key elements of the role:

API Interface Developer

As a successful retail business, we have grown significantly over the last few years. We are now focused on efficiently processing data and automating a number of basic and complex processes currently completed manually.

You would play a major part in developing software compatible with our API to help us:

change order statuses on our content management system (CMS) based on customer order details including type of product, supplier, stock levels or other triggers
automatically build orders for replenishment of stock using sales data including volumes and seasonal variations
create a programme that can pull together data from Google Sheets, Microsoft Sharepoint and our CMS’s REST API to create a quick reference central order retrieval tool returning lead time, delivery status, stock ordered en route figures and other useful order details for our customer services team to utilise
create a robust barcoding system for stock management and order dispatch to enable barcode scanner operation within a warehouse environment. This would include verification of correct product picked and packed as well as publishing order status updates to our CMS
create data bridges/links from our CMS to courier and postal systems such as DPD and Royal Mail to automate parcel and postal bookings wherever possible
update prices on our CMS based on pricing updates on another (API ready) system
improve the efficiency of our data processing across the business by utilising databases
automate as many processes as possible to improve our order processing time and accuracy
develop further data processing capabilities to help the business automate tasks and improve decision making
Maintain all developed software
Further API development projects in-house

We are looking for the following attributes in our search for the right candidate:

Someone who can translate business goals into technology solutions
Someone with REST API interface experience; development, implementation and maintenance
Ability or experience in building software for use in retail environments
Fluent in C# (C sharp) and/or PHP enabling you to build a REST API interface to make a connection and send data
Able to compile bespoke reports through database manipulation
Experience with SQL variant (Microsoft SQL server, MySQL)
Strong problem solving skills
Good communication skills
Excellent IT skills

The working hours of this API Interface Developer role are 9.00am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday (37.5 paid working hours per week). In return you will receive a salary of between £30,000 and £40,000 per annum depending upon your ability and previous relevant experience.
