Are you an experienced IT Security Engineer? Someone who keeps up to today with the latest technologies and developments in the cyber security world? Are you looking for a fresh challenge which will utilise your skill set? If so, then you could be the candidate I'm looking for!I'm working with a client in the Peterborough area who is looking for a security engineer to join their team. In this role you will implement and maintain the company security programme and provide security governance, guidance and oversight across the organisation.Your Key Responsibilities:

Ensure the continued operation or data monitoring and security systems, including anti-virus, anti-spam, internet content filtering, encryption, vulnerability scanning and email scanning.'€¢

Be a vital member in the incident analysis and response team by developing new processes, providing 2nd line analysis and coordinating an effective response.'€¢

Ensure that daily, weekly and monthly security analysis functions are performed and reported on.'€¢

Implement crucial security controls across the organisation through effective identification and assessment of incidents.'€¢

Work closely with colleagues both internal and external to IT to plan activities such as business analysis, compliance or remedial training and guidance activities.'€¢

Design and implement a configuration baseline programme for critical infrastructure systems and feed into design, build and run processes as appropriate.'€¢

Ensure that appropriate security activities are carried out by providing oversight over functions you will design, build and run.'€¢

Ensure that processes, software and hardware all comply with data protection requirements.'€¢

Provide Support and expertise for security compliance activities across the organisation, with explicit focus on PCI activities and contractual enforcement.'€¢

Develop, implement and maintain the IT disaster recovery and business continuity plans.'€¢

Perform security reviews across all systems and key infrastructure; e.g. firewalls, privileged access groups and databases.'€¢

Ensure the security team builds, delivers and maintains comprehensive network security services across the organisation; including detective and preventative controls.'€¢

Ensure the information security function maintains compliance with internal Service and Operational Level Agreements with the business and wider IT team.'€¢

Provide security consultancy services and advise for external business and IT projects.

What you will need to succeed:

'€¢

Demonstrable working knowledge of Microsoft operating procedures. Including common use scenarios and weaknesses and the ability to express those weaknesses in business and technical colleagues.'€¢

Working experience with LAN & WAN technology, in a security context; including routers switches and firewalls.'€¢

Understand various data and security legislation and have the ability to apply that knowledge to business objectives.'€¢

Experience in leading IT Security operations and implementing security software, systems and methods.'€¢

Demonstrable knowledge of and experience with common security compliance frameworks, including PCI DSS and IS027001.'€¢

Working knowledge and experience with common security technologies including; firewall configuration, anti-virus software, intrusion detection systems, encryption techniques, authentication, penetration testing and vulnerability scanning.'€¢

Experience of network and ICT system testing and assessment.'€¢

The ability to keep abreast with developing security technology and developments.'€¢

Understanding of security guidance frameworks such as OWASP ASVS, OpenSAMM and the SANS Top 20.

Additional Desirables:

'€¢

Hold a relevant and recognised information security qualification.'€¢

An understanding or Access Technology and associated products such as JAWS, screen readers and magnification software.'€¢

Knowledge of IS Security Management System Principles.'€¢

Experience providing security consultancy and advise on projects.'€¢

Knowledge of application security systems and risk management methodologies.
