Data Centre Operations Engineer Key Responsibilities:

+ Detailed understanding of each Data Centre’s critical infrastructure and its operation

+ Escalation of, critical infrastructure issues and BMS related alarm conditions

+ Carry out regular critical infrastructure monitoring and systems checks

+ Carry out electrical installations works under direction of Data Centre Services Manager

+ Actively monitor equipment loads and identify potential capacity issues

+ Ensure that all equipment is maintained to recommended best practice and follows PPM schedule

+ Draft change control documentation as required and ensure that all critical infrastructure works follow strict change control procedures

+ On completion of projects, ensure that all relevant changes are accurately communicated to the Data Centre Services Manager, facilitating the update of records/drawings/documents.

+ Provide input into plant/equipment selection in replacement decisions

+ Identify, evaluate and implement opportunities for improvement in energy performance

+ Contribute to maintenance budgeting activity

+ Assist in the running of Data Centre Infrastructure through overseeing maintenance and repairs delivered by third parties

Data Centre Operations Engineer Skills/Experience:

Essential:

+ Electrician with minimum of 5 years’ experience in 3 phase industrial/commercial environments

+ City and Guilds 2365 Level 3 - Electrical Installations

+ BS 7671-17th Edition /18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations

+ Knowledge of Industrial Control Systems (PLC, etc.)

+ Good understanding of industrial Electrical System schematics

+ Experience of Preventative Planned Maintenance Management

+ Knowledge of Data Centre plant and equipment: UPS, Static Switches, Generators, Fuel Systems, Switchgear, Transformers, cooling and humidification systems, etc.

+ Computer Literacy essential in generic Microsoft Office

+ General understanding of Facilities Management

+ Change control in mission critical environments

+ Driving licence (the role will involve travel to other locations)

Desirable:

+ City and Guilds 2391-52 Inspection and Testing

+ LV Authorised Person

+ Building Management Systems

+ Understanding of Project Management process

+ IOSH Managing Safely qualification (or equivalent)

+ Knowledge of power quality issues

+ HV authorised

+ Understanding of Quality Management systems
