Experis are recruiting on behalf of our Client a leading Defence Engineering organisation for an experienced Technical Lead to join their R&D capability to deliver next generation capability in remote control robotics solutions.

This is a key role, managing a multi-disciplinary team of engineering and aligned specialists in the development, verification and delivery of remotely controlled robotics solutions in line with customer and business requirements.

Some of the key deliverables of this role will include -

* Be responsible for definition of product development plans and roadmaps

* Lead engineering project teams in the definition and execution of effective design, development and verification plans of work from conception through to delivery

* Ensure requirements are effectively managed on projects (through derivation, flow down to sub-teams and sub-contractors, and the verification thereof)

* Lead and support independent engineering reviewed and generation of design certificates

* Promote continuous improvement

* Mentor and support less experienced staff

* Technically oversee and evaluate subcontracted elements of work

The successful individual for this role will evidence the following skills and experience -

* Degree qualified or equivalent in a relevant engineering or aligned subject

* Prior experience in the development of robotic equipment - ideally remotely controlled mobile units, but will welcome applications from fixed robotic applications as well

* Ability to work with minimum supervision and lead technical teams of engineers and scientists

* Ability to work at all technical levels from system to component level design, to equipment build and test

* Problem solver able to work collaboratively and effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation and to also include customer facing and 3rd party experience

* Prior experience as a Technical Authority or System Design Authority would be desirable

* Ability to gain and maintain UK SC level Security clearance

It would be advantageous but not pre-requisite for interested parties to have experience with or a desire to gain experience in the following -

* Knowledge of robotics platform system architecture

* Knowledge of robotics industry standards best-practice

* Experience of developing recurring commercial products
