We focus on assisting organisations manage vast amounts of electronic data and navigate the legal and business processes demanded by critical events which includes litigation, regulatory requests and internal investigations.

Our team helps design and build investigation support systems for our clients that work with, review, and provide insights of the data under investigation without the need for complex data analysis skills and without the risk of damaging the underlying evidence.

About the team

The Know Your Data team is a growing team within Digital Forensics & Investigations at PwC. We use data discovery technology to analyse file and datastore contents, and help clients to know what data they have, where it is, and who can access it. We then help them remediate any issues that have been uncovered. Use-cases include compliance with regulation (including the GDPR), responding to cyber threats, and data estate streamlining.

Requirements

You will manage members of our team and engage directly with our clients’ teams, solving their business problems by using data discovery technology to help them understand where their data is, who has access to it and what it contains. You will help clients understand the risks that data poses to them and how we as a team can help them identify and mitigate those risks

You will help to develop discovery rules (including regular expressions) and machine learning approaches for clients, working with cutting-edge software to solve their problems and developing end to end data discovery workflows that meet their needs.

To be considered you must have a minimum of a 2 1 degree in technical subject, and have a demonstrated track record in analysing and resolving business and data issues.

You will need to demonstrate the following

Exceptional analytical and technical aptitude, and a passion for solving real-world problems.

Agile, curious attitude, to help with remaining up to speed with the latest technologies, data discovery approaches, and business challenges.

A proven track record in helping modern businesses manage their data.

The ability to manage people, including their time and priorities, to review their work and to oversee the production of high-quality deliverables.

Familiarity with typical components of modern business IT networks, including the Cloud (e.g. AWS, Azure, Office 365, etc) and document management systems (such as Sharepoint).

Technical skills

Technical experience with the following

File analysis software designed to scan, profile and manage structured and unstructured data stores.

Regular expressions.

Data query and programming languages, such as SQL.

Data visualisation skills, using tools such as Tableau, Qlickview, R, Excel.

Knowledge in the following area is also desirable

Knowledge of data protection legislation such as EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), or other business regulations with data management aspects.
