At the time of writing this, it's the last week of January and for many of us that means we've spent the last 6 weeks revaluating our situations and deciding if where we are is where we always want to be; If you're reading this you've likely decided that no, where you are is not where you want to be forever. So on that note, I'll give you an honest and as brief as possible overview of an interesting Solutions Architect role I have available for a major global banking entity at their flagship site in Knutsford (major hint who that is).

If you haven't already guessed I'll give you a bit of an overview as to who this role is working with, my client is a well-established, globally recognised and industry influencer within the financial sector. They are the leading banking organisation when it comes to tech and software, introducing many revolutionary and now day to day innovations we definitely all take for granted.

Moving on to the role itself and what it entails; the official title is Assistant Vice President - Solutions Architect, responsible for providing solutions & end to end design activities for all projects across the end-to-end software development lifecycle within the Digital Domain, with a 90/10 split between project solutions development (90) and strategy development (10).

Project solutions development will involve providing technical consultancy for any new enterprises and supporting in the classification of business requirements or technical strategies. You will be responsible for owning end to end technical and application architecture for allocated projects within the Digital Domain, identifying and engaging all technical component teams that need to contribute. Designing, documenting and communicating technical and integration solutions is a key aspect of this role, so good communication skills are essential. Lastly you will be working closely with the Lead Architect, programme managers, business analysts, Engineering Teams & product, helping you to understand and challenge requirements, helping to support efficient development.

Strategy development will involve strategy and planning, obviously; under the guidance of the Lead Architect within Digital, you'll develop foundations of the technical strategy, roadmaps and vision for that area. Another key part of strategy development will be to maintain effective relationships and deal openly with all key stakeholders and influence decisions which, in the long term, will produce positive results.

Finally, to touch on the technical requirements involved in the role. Ideally you'll have solution architect experience, or sufficient transferable experience from another role, if you have solutions architect certification, such as TOGAF, then brilliant, however this is not a requirement of the role. Exposure to SOA (Service Orientated Architecture) design principles will be beneficial within this role. The ability to implement extensive IT delivery programmes from foundation through to a successful result, as well as competency or understanding of the micro-services or domain based architectural patterns and experience of implementing one is a key factor within this role. Within the tech stack you will be working with Mobile Technologies such as .Net, Javascript, using Angular & React, and Spring, so experience within these technologies is essential to the role.
