This role is based in Berkshire, working for a Financial Services client, leading on their DevOps transformation as part of a wider cloud first digital transformation programme, already underway. The successful candidate will be working on a DevOps transformation programme already underway. The existing architecture is primarily Windows based (.net) with approximately 250 internally developed applications that require reviewing as part of the transformation. You will be defining and executing a CI/CD strategy and supporting developers to re-engineer existing business applications and will have a deep understanding of DevOps culture (people/process), to provide process improvements.

* Senior role to lead the DevOps advisory and technical strategy

* CI/CD tooling and process review and strategy development

* Operational team review and culture fit analysis to drive CI/CD strategy

* Support in the Design, Implementation, Deployment and Operation automation

* Senior management and exec stakeholder communication

* Lead the develop tools and processes required to maintain stability and performance of large-scale distributed systems in the cloud

* Lead the production of internal technical documentation and the review of client technical documentation

* Take responsibility for implementation and management of Cloud solutions - the full life cycle of build, release, deployment and configuration activities

* Ensure best practices are always adhered to with internal projects, and enable customers to use best practices when making any changes to their environments

* Troubleshoot existing DevOps processes

* Support and advice for development teams

* KT and support client in the journey during transformation Skills & Experience

* +5 years DevOps engineering experience

* Expert understanding of Azure services.

* Experience of working with Terraform, understanding of state management, strategies for state management, running Terraform in automation (as part of CI/CD pipeline).

* Expert understanding and experience of DevOps implementation (build, release - CI/CD) as part of IaC (Infrastructure as code) and application (.NET) SDLC.

* Docker and CI/CD workflow using docker based builders

* Git standard branching and release strategy;

* Configuration Management (Ansible/Chef/SaltStack);

* At least 2 of the following languages: Python, Ruby, Golang, Nodejs, Scala;

* Provisioning tools: Terraform, Azure Resource Manager;

* MQ messaging tools (RabbitMQ, Kafka, ActiveMQ);

* SQL and NOSQL databases;

* Developing DAG's for automated infrastructure processing;

* REST API and ability to develop simple RESTful API;

* Automated unit testing, deployment testing and deployment frameworks;

* Self-motivated and self-starter

* Excellent problem solving and strong attention to detail
