My client supports the generation and exercising of high grade capabilities that enable Government including our armed forces and CNI operators to carry out their business with the security and assurances required to achieve their mission.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the effective management and delivery of a number of projects across the business. They will be expected to develop and grow customer relationships, have an active involvement in complex bids, secure associated follow-on sales and successfully contribute to the overall strategy and business targets.

This is a key role in the winning and delivery of contracted outputs to our customers which requires a leader with a 'can do' attitude to delivery and stakeholder management, combined with the ability to meet challenging deadlines, whilst remaining balanced under pressure.

Their projects range from consultancy and research tasks through to agile software and systems development including the integration and test of pan DLOD (Defence Lines of Development) capabilities and their exercising in operational contexts. Their projects involve high levels of inter-organisation collaboration with Sovereign Industry partners, Critical National Infrastructure operators and Government (NCSC and MOD) so the successful candidate will also be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and have the ability to understand the bigger picture beyond the outputs of the project.

The role requires a minimum of SC clearance initially with the ability to obtain Developed Vetting.

Key Accountabilities:

· Development and maintenance of positive engagement with project customers, partners and suppliers.

· Delivery of the contracted objectives, to agreed baseline (customer satisfaction, time, cost, quality, cash and sales).

· Ensuring project members operate in line with the Operating Framework & functional competency management requirements; and have appropriate personal objectives recorded in the performance management system.

· Resolving conflicts (including prioritisation calls) within the project and collaborating across organisations.

· Maintenance of forecasts (both financial and resource demand signal) for sales and delivery which reflects the up-to-date expectations for the work.

· Application of governance requirements (including lifecycle, project & independent reviews as appropriate) for foundation sales and delivery work.

· Reporting progress on all accountabilities to programme / portfolio manager (or their delegate).

Key Capabilities / Knowledge

· Project Management competence equivalent to IPMA level C

· Knowledge of multiple delivery methodologies and when they are best employed (e.g. Waterfall, Agile etc)

· Able to exercise good commercial judgement

· Strong negotiation skills

· Good communication and interpersonal skills

· Knowledge of other functional disciplines related to project delivery (e.g. finance)

· An understanding of budgeting and resource allocation

· An understanding of the wider Defence and Security context

· Drive, energy & resilience

Experience & Qualifications

· APMPQ qualification or equivalent

· Previous demonstrable experience of delivering Complex investment projects within the maritime domain

· Degree qualified or equivalent
