Central Manchester

£55,000 - £70,000 (Salary dependant on experience)

Technical Strategy

* Working with cross functional agile teams who own their products in a Continuous delivery DevOps environment.

* Making Data driven decisions using Hadoop, Kibana, Big Data, MI and MVT testing.

* Involved in team development with continuous improvement.

* Focusing on engineering practices using TDD and BDD Methodologies. with a strong focus on non-functional requirements at the beginning as oppose to afterthought.

Role Responsibility

* Line manage a team of Software Engineers.

* Take the lead on development and design of features.

* Proactivity in driving improvements in engineering practices.

* Lead and mentor engineers.

* Write robust code including tests of the highest standards.

Candidate specification

An enthusiastic and driven software engineering lead who will lead an agile team to push the limits on engineering excellent solutions and contribute to shaping our future.

Prolific levels of energy and passion are a must when delivering a range of technologies and a solid understanding of engineering principles are mandatory. You will also be expected to manage a team of engineers.

As a minimum, you will be expected to have:

* Great understanding of web development and technologies.

* Proficient in writing simple, object orientated code that is fast under load and robust.

* Proficient in using design patterns and frameworks such as Spring or MVC.

* Experience with continuous integration, continuous delivery and agile.

* Solid understanding of how the web works starting at the request through to the response.

Web Development

* Developing a number of features for the website across mobile, tablet. and desktop. The websites used are high volume handling several million searches and bookings per year with a strong focus on A/B testing.

* High proficiency with HTML 5, AJAX, Bootstrapping, XTTP, XHTML, JQuery, JSON and XML.

* Proficiency of styling and designing web pages using CSS.

* Highly proficient with JavaScript frameworks such as React.js, Node.js and Angular.js.

* Highly proficient with the use of Java and JSP.

Service Development

* Highly proficient with the use of Java or PHP.

* Good understanding of REST based API's using XML and JSON.

* Good understanding of database technologies such as SQL, MySQL, SQL server.

* Good understanding of domain driven design.

* Good understanding of ORM technologies such as hibernate.
