SAP PI/PO Developer to be based in Milton Keynes on an initial 3 Month contract. Experienced SAP PI/PO Developer required to work on the design of new SAP PI/PO based IT solutions, modify, enhance or adapt existing systems. As a member of a flexible resource pool you may be assigned to single large or complex project or a number of smaller projects working under the direction and guidance of a SAP Development Manager.

Job Purpose

The SAP PI/PO Developer is part of a team of experienced SAP software developers responsible for the technical design and development of new SAP based IT solutions and the modification and enhancement of existing SAP systems ensuring adherence to coding standards and best practices.

As a member of a flexible resource pool you may be assigned to single large or complex project or a number of smaller projects working under the direction and guidance of a SAP Development Manager. You will work within a project focused matrix environment as part of the project team managed by the Project Manager.

Responsibilities

* Work with the Business Analyst to ensure a proper understanding of the business requirements and functional design.

* Review Functional Specifications and feedback comments to the Business Analyst.

* Design new SAP PI/PO based IT solutions, modify, enhance or adapt existing systems.

* Create Technical Specifications.

* Develop/maintain application code that adheres to coding standards and best practices.

* Plan, prepare and execute Unit tests to verify that each unit or component when tested in isolation is behaving as expected.

* Investigate defects detected in Unit, System, Systems Integration, User Acceptance Testing and non-functional test phases and provide fixes within agreed response times.

* Provide knowledge transfer to IT Service Delivery and IT Support and other stakeholders where required.

* Participate in peer reviews.

* Share skills, experience and knowledge with members of the SAP Support and Maintenance team.

* Ensure high standards are maintained, following defined procedures delivering quality solutions.

* Create robust, maintainable solutions that meet the defined quality criteria.

* Contribute towards design discussions and decisions.

* Frequently collaborates with Business Analysts, technical leads and business subject matter experts.

* Participate in daily stand-ups and/or other project status meetings.

Skills and Experience

Mandatory

* Experienced Software Developer with very good programming ability, and a willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies.

* Experience of working across all aspects of a complete systems development life cycle.

* Ability to translate functional requirements into a technical solution.

* Passionate about software engineering and solution focussed.

* Previous SAP PI/PO experience including:

* Ability to evaluate different technical approaches

* Design of appropriate data model reusing existing generic business objects or patterns

* Ensure completeness and plausibility in corporation with development teams

* Ensure that changes in data model are made according to design guidelines

* Implement Changes using SAP PO 7.31 and Netweaver Developer Studio (Eclipse)

* Preparation of the technical environments to ensure efficient running

* Generate ABAP Proxies in the application systems

* Assist in building mapping programs between application and communication data model (Proxy)

* Assist in load and performance tests

* Good understanding and experience in the use of standard SAP PI/PO development tools.

* Ability to write high quality technical design documentation.

* Ability to prioritise, self-manage and to work effectively with others.

Desirable

* Experience of generic SAP ABAP development would also be desirable.

* Experience in a Contract Management System would be an advantage

* Previous experience in Financial Services, Automotive Finance or retail consumer finance (B2C).

* Verbal and written German language skills are advantageous.
