I am working closelty with a leading organisation in the construction spacea who are looking to start 2019 by recruiting an experienced Information Security (IS) Manager to be based out of their Rugby office. This is a strategic hire for them, with the main focus of the role being the protection of the data processed by the company or approved partners from threats to data confidentiality, integrity or availability. The organisation employs a wide variety of platforms, systems and controls to protect data and the role will see you become iresponsible for ensuring that these controls remain effective and efficient.

From the get-go, you will be expected to work closely with both internal and external stakeholders, providing and managing frontline support for any IS queries as well as identifying opportunities for improvement. You will report directly into the Group Head of IS, taking ownership of a number of key areas including supporting IS compliance, internal auditing and threat intelligence.

You will manage all external service providers on a day-to-day basis, ensuring compliance with key SLA's and KPI's as well as evangelising IS principles. Fundamentally, this role is all about accuracy and attention to detail and requires a number of key criteria to be met by applicants:

Stakeholder Management - First and foremost, your role will be hugely stakeholder-facing due to the nature of the organisation and its size. You will be expected to act as a conduit between IT and the wider business, so a proven track record dealing with stakeholders (up to C-level) is essential.

Regulatory Compliance - You should have a solid working knowledge of ISO27001 as well as experience with recent GDPR legislation. Moreover, any industry certifications (CISM, CISSP) would be hugely beneficial.

Leadership - Due to the management aspects of this role, it is imperative that you demonstrate confidence, communication and excellent leadership skills. You will be expected to act as a senior figure within the business, evangelising and managing IS issues so proven leadership is a vital element of the role.

Technical Knowledge - Finally, whilst this isn't a technical role in that you won't be building websites or fixing servers, it is important that you have experience working in a technical environment. Experience working with Microsoft technologies (SQL, Windows, IIS) would be preferred.

So there you have it... something a bit different to start the year and hopefully a role you are interested in finding out more about. If you like the sound of the role and want to follow it up with a chat then give me a shout. I can be contacted via the following:
