ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

When joining us as an Engineering Manager, you'll have the responsibility of day-to-day management of a group of technical architects and engineers, of varying levels (entry-level to senior), spread across multiple Agile product teams.

Built by some of the most innovative, experienced people in the business, FreeWheel Advertisers’ platform powers the advertising campaigns for over 7,500 media buyers at 1,200 agencies and advertisers across the U.S. and Europe, processing more than $50bn per year. Our scalable, open architecture gives our clients the flexibility to handle all types of media - from print to TV to digital. As part of FreeWheel, a Comcast Company, we provide the technology, data enablement, and marketplace integrations to allow buyers and sellers to transact across all screens, all data types, and all sales channels.

As we expand into new markets and further develop our product suite, we are looking for a Engineer Manager to join our growing team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

-Maintaining a healthy, motivated, and effective team

-Assisting the members of your team with defining and achieving their individual performance goals and development plans, as well as objectives for the group as a whole

-Evangelizing engineering best practices and other company initiatives, such as Agile development methodologies

-Serving as a liaison between your office location and the engineering staff and senior management in our other locations around the world, as well as facilitating effective communication between the members of your own team

-Taking the lead with the teams when issues arise, providing guidance, and proactively leaning in to help the teams avoid this

-Continuing to build the team by playing a central role in the engineer interview and hiring process

-Using the resources we provide to continuously upskill and better yourself, as well as mentor engineers within the team and help them grow

-Establishing the organizational structures that enable us to scale our engineering to match our global ambitions, and playing an integral role in resource planning

ABOUT YOU

The linchpin of a high-functioning engineering team is its manager, and you will play a key role in building and maintaining such a team. Our engineers love a challenge, strive for continuous improvement, and seek to make world-class software - and your job will be to make them achieve their highest potential as individuals and as a group. Successful candidates for engineering management should have the following:

-Experience managing successful engineering teams, especially across geographies

-Flawless communication skills in English, both written and spoken

-Working experience as a software engineer, ideally in an enterprise business environment

-Knowledge of and experience with Agile development methodology, particularly Scrum and Kanban

-Understanding of web-based, service-oriented software architecture

-Evidence of being a part of a team successfully delivering large scale projects

-Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field
