Protect our digital future
About us
The Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) has a vision to build an economy that works for everyone, so that there are great places in every part of the UK for people to work and for businesses to invest, innovate and grow.
There has never been a more exciting time to work in BEIS - especially within Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT). We have only just begun to consider how we might exploit the options presented by the latest technology. This is an exceptional opportunity for you to play your part in guiding the Department into a new digital future.
The role
As Security Analyst, you’ll design and build security solutions for the Department’s brand new, and continually developing, technical systems. You will oversee and manage all in-house access to live data, and ensure this is conducted in accordance with the Government’s Security Policy Framework policies and procedures.
You will be implementing security measures that protect the Government’s information systems, networks and data. As such, we will expect you to keep up-to-date with the latest intelligence - including the latest hacker methodologies - to ensure preventative measures are in place in anticipation of security breaches.
Key responsibilities include:
-Managing, monitoring and updating the Department’s Cybersecurity platforms
-Working with departmental security teams to analyse and identify security risks and trends
-Ensuring timely and effective management of security risks, and identifying causes
-Acting as cybersecurity expert, and engaging with relevant third-party technology partners where required
About you
You have a deep understanding of the technical aspects of security including the vulnerabilities of existing and future designs; you’re an innovator who can identify new technologies and put these to use in the business context; and you understand different risk methodologies and how to apply them. Importantly, you’re able to translate all these concepts accurately and effectively - to technical and non-technical stakeholders alike.
Benefits
As a Civil Service employee, you’ll be entitled to a large range of benefits, including:
-Regular performance and development reviews
-25 days of annual leave on entry, increasing to 30 days after 5 years
-One further day paid privilege entitlement to mark the Queen’s Birthday
-Flexible working patterns including part- time or time-term working
-Generous paid maternity and paternity leave
-Interest-free season ticket and bicycle loans
-Competitive contributory pension scheme
