Build our future digital service
About us
The Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) has a vision to build an economy that works for everyone, so that there are great places in every part of the UK for people to work and for businesses to invest, innovate and grow.
There has never been a more exciting time to work in BEIS - especially within Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT). We have only just begun to consider how we might exploit the options presented by the latest technology. This is an exceptional opportunity for you to play your part in guiding the Department into a new digital future.
The role
As Technical Architect, you’ll lead the ongoing migration and development of the Department’s Office 365 architecture, and lead on the delivery of Office 365 technologies. You’ll also manage the connectivity of Office 365 provisions to legacy applications such as SharePoint. Using information contained within the Office 365 architecture, you’ll instigate a range of business improvement activities, ensuring these remain aligned with the Department’s strategies, policies and standards. Additional key responsibilities include:
-Delivering technical leadership and architecture
-Acting as an expert on sourcing solutions to Office 365 challenges within DDaT and BEIS
-Providing Office 365-focused support in the development of cloud strategy
About you
Naturally, you’ll have a high level of skills in Office 365, with the ability to lead and manage the technical design and migration of the platform.
You’ll be working with business and technology stakeholders to translate their business problems into technical designs, and making and guiding decisions. That’s why we’re looking for someone who can bridge the gap between the technical and the non-technical, so that complex concepts can be understood by all.
Importantly, you’re the type of person who can look beyond an immediate technical problem and identify the wider implications: how it fits within broader contexts and strategies, and the future impact it might have.
Benefits
As a Civil Service employee, you’ll be entitled to a large range of benefits, including:
-Regular performance and development reviews
-25 days of annual leave on entry, increasing to 30 days after 5 years
-One further day paid privilege entitlement to mark the Queen’s Birthday
-Flexible working patterns including part- time or time-term working
-Generous paid maternity and paternity leave
-Interest-free season ticket and bicycle loans
-Competitive contributory pension scheme
