Wintel Engineer - O/S Upgrade
Location: Coventry

Role Description
Our client are looking for 3 Wintel Engineer's to join the team in Coventry to focus on the execution O/S upgrades of virtual and physical machines in AWS and CoLo DC's. The role will require O/S upgrades from Windows 2008 to Windows 2008R2 or Windows 2012 mostly on a VMWARE platform.
The Wintel Engineer will work with the client's build Project Manager and customer support teams to plan upgrade activities.
Good Analytical and troubleshooting skills i.e. can own and run an issue with minimal intervention from others ensuring all relevant parties are informed in a timely manner
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
* Troubleshooting / provide solution(s) to system and network problems, diagnose and solve hardware/software Incidents/problems
* Technical Learning.
* Learning on the Fly.
* Dealing with Ambiguity
* Create, manage and evolve polices, processes and procedures
* Install, maintain and support new applications and Infrastructure
* Prioritising and managing several open cases and mini projects at one time
Typical Outputs and Deliverables:
* Managing and build of Windows server Platforms
* Using VMWare Management interfaces
* Managing Active Directory
* Administering Domain Controllers
* Create, manage and evolve polices, processes and procedures
* Work to SLA thresholds for incident(s) and problem(s)
* Self-Development
* Adhering to internal business processes.
Key Attributes:
* Experience of supporting a variety of Windows client and server operating systems
* Experience of O/S upgrades of virtual and physical machines in AWS and CoLo DC's
* Familiarity with VMWare (vSphere, vCenter etc.)
* Experience of Cloud Technologies / Infrastructure
* Knowledge of monitoring alerting, logging and status messages
* Troubleshooting network issues
* Fundamental networking knowledge - IP, DNS, IP routing, network address translation
* Strong troubleshooting skills and experience with Windows Server operating systems
