(Architect,Metadata,Abacus,TOGAF,Semantic,RDF,JSON,NoSQL,MDM,Governance,Data Model,Data Quality,Business Intelligence) My client is seeking a self-starting, highly-motivated Enterprise Architect who combines information architecture skills with an ability to synthesise and communicate abstract principles in an engaging and understandable way to a variety of stakeholders.

Role Summary

To drive definition and adoption of information standards within and promote platform approaches to systems and capabilities involved in information supply chains. In particular, to formalise how Information Architecture is targeted and practised.

Initially the role will be focused on helping to transition information architecture from being regional in scope to being company-wide, and from being a minority partner in most projects into being a major stakeholder.

Core Responsibilities / Accountabilities:

Priorities will be:

* Working with business-case owners to understand and elaborate the information outcomes they seek, converting those into new-build requirements, adjustments to IA standards, and transition approaches for existing capabilities

* Working with Enterprise Architecture, Architecture Communities of Practice and TLG to propose, recommend and get approval for Information Architecture policies & standards

* Working as an advisor to platform capability requirements and engineering teams on information standards and approaches;

* Working as a project consultant and architect on projects that provide reference implementations

* Working as a reviewing architect as part of technical governance processes;

Subsequently the role will contribute to determining the information principles and "big rules" that should govern the complete content supply chain and ecosystem, from acquisition to product, along with identifying any new capabilities that may be required.

Essential Skills/Experience required:

* Data process experience in a large organisation is essential.

* Data and information modelling skills - background as a practitioner is essential.

* Data architecture and/or content management and/or content operations experience at solution and enterprise levels would be an advantage.

* Self-driven and able to work independently while at the same time being open and collaborative.

* Demonstrable experience of leadership in respect to information architecture and information management - having credibility and being authoritative.

* Ability to plan, convene, chair and facilitate working groups so as to stay focused and reach clear, recorded decisions is essential.

* Able to think both conceptually and pragmatically, and able to balance the need to think with the ability to deliver.

* Strong analytical and architectural skills; ability to manage complexity.

* Ability to accurately analyse, abstract, visualise and communicate complex interdependent concepts, especially in regard to information structure and management.

* Ability to work in a multi-cultural, multi-time zone environment.

* Good communication skills are essential - in particular an ability to engage and lead locally, and the ability to influence senior technical management locally.

* Broad understanding of the issues that arise when designing and implementing information supply chains on a large scale, including the balance between efficiency, timeliness, and consistency of handling.

Desired Skills/Experience required:

* Mentor to other staff - able to inspire, lead and guide.

* Data provenance, rights management, and/or permissioning experience would be an advantage.

* Comfortable working at a distance to the majority of day-to-day co-workers, using a full range of tools (email, instant messaging, phone, WebEx, Telepresence etc.)

* Knowledge and experience in leading edge data technologies - e.g. graph databases, Hadoop, HBase, Kafka, Avro etc., and/or cloud technology - would be an advantage;

* Practical programming and/or design skills associated with interface implementation (API or message-based) would be an advantage;
