IT Systems Support Operator / 24*7 / Permanent

Spring Technology have partnered with a key client to find an ambitious IT Systems Operator for their Birmingham head office.

My client are a global retail chain who can offer the successful candidate an amazing working environment and exposure to enterprise level technologies.

You will provide a support function to the business on a 24*7 basis. This involves monitoring servers, overnight polling, network connections, system backups, batch processing and hardware. You will also create and distribute a number of key business reports overnight and at the weekend to keep the business up to date in areas such as Sales, Finance, Planning, EPOS and Loss Prevention.

Key Responsibilities:

*Providing support to the business on a 24*7 basis

*Identifying issues and escalating them in a timely manner

*Monitoring servers, network connections and stores using Solarwinds, PRTG and VMware software and escalating any issues when found

*Monitoring retail and corporate backups using Netbackup and Veeam

*Providing help desk support out of hours and logging calls and incidents as required

*Setting up, amending & removing user accounts on Unix, Windows and AS400 operating systems and also on some system applications

*Ensuring security procedures are enforced and adhered to

*Performing housekeeping routines on the Pennine Production and Test servers to ensure disk space, processor usage and memory usage are kept at an adequate level

Key Skills

*Any previous role in IT support, IT operations or IT Help Desk

*Experience of monitoring IT systems in one of the following areas: Windows, Unix/Linux and AS400

*Experience of using software like Solarwinds, PRTG, Netbackup, Veeam, VmWare and an IT Help Desk tool

This is a permanent role paying up to 19,000 and will earn up to £4,000 in shift allowance. They also offer some generous benefits including pension, perks, company discounts etc.
