Canon Medical Research Europe Ltd is a leading medical software research & development centre of excellence, generating breakthrough technologies and valuable intellectual property for Canon Medical Systems.

Based in the diverse city of Edinburgh, Scotland we employ over 100 employees working as Software Engineers, Scientists, Clinical Specialists, Testers and Business Support and are part of a global corporation headquartered in Japan.

Our teams develop next generation medical imaging software to integrate with Canon Medical scanners and other diagnostic healthcare solutions which are installed in hospitals and health centres across the globe.

We develop software that helps saves people’s lives - we help to make a difference!

About the role

We have several new vacancies for Senior Software Engineer’s at our R&D centre of excellence in Edinburgh. These are excellent opportunities to work in an intellectually stimulating environment, with exposure to leading edge technology within the medical imaging industry. We strive to create technology that makes a meaningful difference to people’s lives, helping doctors to help restore their patients’ health and well-being.

You will be working within an agile software development team that provides technology, services or applications to be used within medical imaging systems. You will have the opportunity to be involved in all aspects of the product development lifecycle, from requirements capture through to product release and support.

We are looking for enthusiastic engineers, who enjoy working as part of a team, and have the drive and ability to learn and develop new skills.

You will be an excellent programmer, with at least 2-3 years’ experience in web technologies, such as HTML, JavaScript and CSS, or an OOP language, such as Java or C++, however, development experience with other similar languages would also be considered. We are also looking for candidates with experience of modern web development. Prior knowledge of these areas, and of medical imaging, would be an advantage but isn’t required, assuming you have a desire to learn and work with varied technology stacks.

Benefits

We aim to offer an inclusive, flexible and balanced working environment, by being an employer that cares for and respects its employees. We are part of a global family, that works closely with other development teams based in Japan, America, Canada and France; giving the opportunity of work placements at partner sites. As an employer, we want to provide you the right environment to allow you to develop your career, by giving you time to learn new skills and pursue your own creative projects.
