Lead DevOps Engineer - Basingstoke, Hampshire

A new opportunity for a Lead DevOps Engineer to join a global defence IT solutions provider.

Role Overview 
You will be joining a fast paced environment and play a key role in the introduction of DevOps culture and specific tools being used across the business. You will be involved in the continued growth of the team and technical mentoring of more junior engineers. This is a great opportunity to build and lead a new DevOps function. Responsible for developing a set of consistent and repeatable DevOps processes and tooling ensuring availability, automation in an agile CI/CD delivery both  on premise and in the cloud.

ResponsibilitiesWork with developers to drive the design and development of high-quality technical end to end solution deployments (incl. production, test and dev environments).Work with existing operation teams to ensure efficiencies and drive new ways of workingProvide a consistent approach to DevOps across existing teams and projectsManage all assigned DevOps projects or continuous improvement activities within change initiatives, projects or programme to fully meet the defined functional and non-functional requirements within budget and timescale.Model best practice, acting as a role model for more junior members of the DevOps team.Responsibilities may include participation in component or architectural or solution design, performance monitoring, product evaluation and recommendations.Reviews requirements, functional specifications, architectural designs and testing strategies. Recommends alternative technical solutions to meet DevOps requirements more efficiently, ensuring greater standardisation and reusability.Collaborates with architecture, infrastructure, security and external partners to ensure alignment on design is achieved.Skills and Knowledge:Solid understanding of CI/CD - the business is flexible on tools, any exposure to Jenkins, Drone, TeamCity, Bamboo or CircleCI will be beneficial.Configuration Management - Again flexible on tools but Ansible or Puppet preferred.Public Cloud Services - AWS or AzureVersion Control - Git, GitHub, SVN etcAutomationAgile methodologyExposure to both Linux and Windows environments will be highly beneficial.Any exposure or interest in containerisation will be highly beneficial - Kubernetes/Docker.The Company
