Test Manager - 6 month Contract - Southampton - January Start

My client is undertaking a major transformation project to introduce a new policy and member administration system. They require someone to help plan, co-ordinate and execute the testing required for the new product going into production. The supplier will be undertaking system testing but the UAT testing will be undertaken by users from the business team who currently use the legacy systems. The vast majority of the test work will be related to UAT but there will also be a need to plan and co-ordinate some technical testing and also some implementation testing at cutover into production.

Responsibilities are as follows:

* To develop the overall UAT plan

* To manage the development of UAT test cases

* Coach, mentor and support users around User Acceptance Testing good practice.

* To identify opportunities for the effective use of tooling to assist UAT (e.g. Selenium, Appium)

* To develop and execute UAT test cases. (We are a small organisation and this must be a hands-on role)

* To act as a point of contact for all defects received, co-ordinating with the product supplier and the internal team in terms of resolution

* Track progress against plan, providing metrics and progress reports to Project Team in a timely manner.

* Communicate details of software defects to the software vendors or configuration specialists.

Provide test outcome reports and feedback on software quality to the Project

Qualifications / background and experience which are essential for the role

* Excellent understanding of general test approaches and techniques.

* Knowledge of the financial services industry and experience of ISA, bonds and unit-linked investment products

* Awareness of the lifecycle of the above products (application, management, claims)

* Hands-on attitude. Will need to get involved an execute some of the testing

* Comprehensive experience of managing and planning UAT on more than one project

Interviews will be held on the first week of January.

Start: January
