The School of Computing are seeking to appoint three outstanding researchers who have a keen interest and expertise in machine learning (including but not limited to deep learning).

You will work on research challenges such as integrating network/cloud-related time series data of very diverse and heterogeneous nature, developing innovative strategies for estimating the 'state' of a cloud system, detecting anomalies, natural language processing and predicting potential cybercrime.

Assisting in the process of developing evidence for prosecutions is a crucial aspect of this work, as such there will be an emphasis to create systems yielding human-understandable knowledge.

A PhD (or nearing completion) in Machine Learning is desirable. If you are nearing PhD completion or you are without a PhD, you must have an MSc in Machine Learning or closely related discipline. As you will join a dedicated team of multidisciplinary researchers and will work in collaboration with partners from national universities, it is desirable for you to have demonstrable experience of working within interdisciplinary teams. You will have excellent communication skills and a demonstrated ability to engage with non-academic stakeholders at a local and international level. You should have the ability to use personal initiative and creativity to solve problems.

The University holds a silver Athena SWAN award in recognition of our good employment practices for the advancement of gender equality. The University also holds the HR Excellence in Research award for our work to support the career development of our researchers, and is a member of the Euraxess initiative supporting researchers in Europe.

Please be advised that due to the minimum salary threshold of £30,000 per annum imposed by the UKVI, this post may not qualify for University sponsorship under Tier 2 of the points based system.
