Where appropriate, develop the category plan for the category and sub categories under management, in line with the procurement and category strategy, aggregating demand to leverage M&S's scale and scope.

Manage the category using procurement levers to manage demand, reduce total cost of ownership (TCO), optimise performance, service and requirements and deliver value for money.

Uses spend analysis, total cost in use models and market benchmark data to support category planning.

Provide supply market knowledge and subject matter expertise to inform the end to end management of the category and support the business in key sourcing decisions.

End to end delivery of category plans, from strategy through implementation and benefits realisation ensuring appropriate balance of cost, service, risk and adherence to Plan A are considered in all procurement decisions.

Manage all Source to Contract activity, taking responsibility for the development and approval of sourcing strategies, market testing, negotiation and contract award and signature.

Develop detailed Contract schedules, ensuring that M&S standard terms and conditions are utilised in all Contract awards.

Implement/on-board new suppliers, including the transition and exit of old suppliers, ready for the business to consume.

Monitor and manage business compliance for approved suppliers and any established frameworks, and remedy off contract spend.

Manage and remedy supplier non-compliance to the contract.

Manage ongoing contract administration of all managed contracts ensuring the contracted service continues to meet business requirements and contracts are reflective of the service delivered and are in line with the contracting policy.

Manage supplier relationships within the category and where appropriate identify and implement opportunities to reduce cost and continuously improve.

Identify and monitor strategic suppliers for management.

Support the business to monitor and manage supplier performance, resolving supplier non-performance, issues and escalations where appropriate.

Develop category savings/benefit plans and manage the ongoing tracking and reporting of benefits against plan through to realisation.

Develop and maintain long term value adding relationships with: internal stakeholders to understand business needs, deliver effective demand management and address any compliance issues, and 3rd party suppliers.

Manage and report on all operational, commercial and supply chain risk for the managed category and sub categories.

Promote best practice and continuous improvement within the procurement team and function through leadership, vision and coaching.

Support the development of M&S' central Procurement team in terms of market / category knowledge, best practice and skills development.

Meet agreed performance objectives and ways of working; identify and progress areas for personal development

KPIs:

Development and delivery of category plan, including approved benefits targets

Delivery of savings/benefits against plan

Number of suppliers

Non contracted spend / non adherence to M&S terms and conditions

Stakeholder feedback (including Procurement team)

Governance activities delivered to agreed targets and plans - e.g. projects, benefits delivery, contracts governance

Business compliance to the end to end procurement process
