Backend Developer - Fully funded startup on a mission!

Backend Developer with skills in either C#, Java, Python, Node.js, Go or Ruby on Rails required for a "social change B2C" 40 person startup and create highly scalable and resilient backend services built on AWS. The language to be utilised has not been chosen yet. The CTO is quite pragmatic and will take the advice of you, as a Backend Developer, and the team in order to best achieve the goal of getting a lot of content that is held in different formats on to the platform and in the longer term on to public facing sites.

Salary: £55-70k + equity, pension, flexible working / home working, healthy food, not so healthy food, great coffee, office dogs..........

Location: nr Farringdon, Central London

Based in warehouse-style offices near Farringdon, Central London as a Backend Developer you will be part of the growing team tasked with building a robust, scalable API system able to cope with at least 1 QPS (queries per second). With not much of the platform having been built so far there is a real chance to make an impact at a company where fun, enjoyment and education is at the centre of both the people and the product.

My client is providing a highly available, live service to both the US & UK markets so a focus on resilience, quality and using new technology to enhance this is key. RESTful APIs, AWS (EC2, DynamoDB, Elasticsearch), microservices and SQL are all being utilised. There is also the opportunity to work on DevOps, automation, online games / Unity, Machine Learning, JavaScript frontends and mobile (Android / iPhone). Focusing on social change there is a real shared vision amongst the team and huge sense of community around what they are creating.

Skills required for the role of Backend Developer:

* A strength in backend development using at least one of C#, Java, Python, Node.js, Go or Ruby on Rails

* Experience of RESTful APIs, AWS, microservces and ideally DevOps

* Although not essential, experience of working both in startups and larger orgs would be perfect
