DevOps Engineer

This whole process begins with your, potential, new employer. They are one of the longest standing clients I work with on a regular basis. They are a digital consultancy firm with a reputation for producing market leading software solutions for their client's and can boast a presence across a varied range of industries. With offices across the UK they are well known for their use of best practice approaches and the use of newly released technologies.

Secondly, I am going to tell you a bit about the role. The role is part of a very heavy recruitment drive, aiming to gather a team of talented engineers capable of carrying out the digital transformation projects that they are so famous for.

As a DevOps engineer you will work alongside a team of brilliant engineers working on a premise shift to the cloud on a series of projects, which due to their nature remain confidential currently. Depending on your seniority level you will be predominantly hands on but as you gain in experience you will also mentor younger, less skilled engineers, sharing your wisdom and skills to shape them into senior engineers.

In terms of the logistics of the role ideally you should be flexible around the UK as this would open the amount of projects you could work on. However, with projects across the UK there is likely to be something for everyone and they will do their best to position you somewhere closer to home. In terms of client sites you will spend 4 days on client and 1 working from home but this also negotiable to suit your lifestyle. Salary wise, you are looking at between £40000 and £75000 (DOE) with a generous expenses package amongst other benefits.

Finally, in terms of the requirements of the role there is a broad range of skills but key skills lie in the following:

* A solid background in Linux technologies.

* Previous experience with containerisation technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.

* Experience of cloud technologies such as, but not limited to, AWS and Azure.

* Any experience of automation technologies such as Puppet and Ansible is, naturally, an added bonus to any application.
