We are currently recruiting a Desktop and Infrastructure Engineer for one of our London based clients. In this role you will be providing on-Site desktop, remote and infrastructure support remote on the clients site being an escalation point for On-Site Desktop Engineer.Duties include:
· Proactive monitoring, maintenance and first line support of the firms server, storage, telephony and network infrastructure with occasional visits to the London-based data centres.
· Liaising with the internal escalation team, in-house developers and 3rd party vendors to ensure all issues are followed up to a timely and satisfactory resolution.
· Managing the firms nightly tape backup processes.
· Management of a VMware server environment.
· Ensuring compliance with the firms IT audit and security processes and procedures.
· Assisting with the deployment of new systems as well as the application of patches and updates to the desktop and server estates.
· Content management for the firms public facing website.
· Primary escalation point for user support
Skills and Experience:
Essential
· Experience supporting a Microsoft desktop and server environment and must be proficient in the management of Windows 7 -> 2012 R2 and Office 2010 as a minimum.
· Proficient using Active Directory for user administration tasks and Group Policy
· Good understanding of WAN/LAN management concepts.
· Strong communicator with the ability to convey technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical users.
· Must be a quick learner who is keen to pick up new technologies.
· Good problem solving and diagnostic skills.
· Able to work well under pressure and to independently prioritise conflicting demands.
Desirable
· Scripting (Powershell, Windows Shell Scripting).
· Knowledge of Microsoft server technologies (Exchange, SQL Server, System Centre Configuration Manager, Sharepoint).
· Experience of configuration tasks in Cisco Call Manager.
· Familiar with Symantec Backup Exec or Enterprise Vault
