Role: Infrastructure Monitoring Engineer

Duration: 4 Months (Potential Extensions)

Location: Northampton

Design, build and Monitoring of Windows devices

* Design, Build and Monitor the Performance and availability of the Windows servers' estate

* based on the agentless solution. Performance counters are collected using the

* PowerShell Get-Counter Cmdlet within a remote shell (WinRS). Servers will be on boarded

* and modelled in tooling.

* Monitor Windows servers disk space, Interfaces, Processors, windows

* services, CPU and memory through the windows monitoring zenpack.

* Create Monitoring templates to configure appropriate event thresholds

* based on mutual agreement with the Company and define the event classes to be taken

* up within the tool and reported on.

* Provide a graphical representation of the utilization of the components

* monitored. Active directory, Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, Skype, Microsoft IIS and

* MSSQL database instances shall be monitored in this windows monitoring interface.

Monitoring of Unix/Linux devices

* Monitor Performance and availability of the Unix/Linux server estate based

* on the agentless solution by using SSH to run the commands on remote machines

* to get the monitoring data Servers will be on boarded and modelled.

* Create monitoring templates to configure the thresholds and define the

* event classes

* The following components shall be monitored on Unix/Linux devices based on the

* performance monitoring:

* CPU,

* Memory,

* File systems,

* Interfaces,

* Hard disks,

* Logical volumes,

* Physical volumes,

* Processes.

* System availability

* CPU and Memory utilizations can be viewed in graphs and the components utilization

* also can be viewed in the components graphs console.

Monitoring of Hardware

* Monitor the following hardware components within the Company Data Centre

* environment:

* AIX Power systems,

* HP ProLiant,

* Dell Hardware components (through Chassis Management Controller)

* AIX Power systems components:

* MC Server,

* Managed Systems,

* Profiles,

* I/O Devices,

* I/O Pools,

* Logical Partitions,

* HMC Service Processor,

* Processor Pools.

Monitoring of Vmware Esxi

* Monitor VMware Esxi through a vCenter server using the vSphere API. The

* metrics that will be monitored and measured are:

* Performance monitoring of clusters,

* Resourcepools,

* Data stores,

* Endpoints,

* Hosts,

* LUNS,

* Virtual Machines.

* Alarm, Event, ExtendedEvent will be considered as event classes and their sub-classes

* will be collected and passed into the Zenoss event management system.

Monitoring of NetApp Storage:

Monitor and manage NetApp devices using NetAppMonitor zenpack.

Perform status monitoring of vServers, Volumes, LUNS, Hard Disks

and Disk Shelves.
