Senior Software Engineer - £500-£550 - London - ASAP

My client is a powerhouse in the gambling industry, and is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join their highly competent team.

This is an opportunity to join a cloud-first environment, utilising your knowledge and experience to help my client redefine their core platform. You will have the opportunity to work right from the beginning of the project in the R&D phase all the way through to delivery. You will be working with high throughput and low latency systems and bringing new ideas to the table to help take the platform to the next level.

Day to day, you will be responsible for:

* Owning the end to end software delivery process

* Building maintainable, testable, resilient software systems including monitoring and operational impact throughout the process

* Working in a fully agile environment alongside architects to design the system

* Working as part of a team - mentoring developers and ensuring coding standards are met

* Helping the product owner to establish priorities and estimate deliverables

* Mentoring and couching people directly reporting into you

Essential:

* Proven experience working on big production systems handling very large amount of data on a complicated domain

* Proven experience in Java object-oriented development

* Working with a mixture of RESTful and push APIs (JSON and XML)

* Testing Frameworks e.g. Junit/Mockito

* Working knowledge of cloud platforms (GCP or AWS)

Highly desirable skills include;

* Working with distributed systems (RabbitMQ/Kafka/Pub)

* Experience with Kubernetes and Docker

* Experience with working with NoSQL and RDBMS data platforms (e.g. MySQL, Big Table, Big Query, elasticsearch)

* Working with high volumes of data, low latency systems

* String will to motivate and help people reporting into you to improve and overcome their limits
