Introduction

An Industrial Placement with a difference

Like other employers you could be considering, we need placement students who are go-getters; ambitious, driven, and full of curiosity. We also promise to give you all the opportunities you can handle to continue learning and developing in a challenging 12 month placement.

But, we’re different too. Very different. Because at Nationwide, as well as having the enormous scope of a top financial services provider, we’re a mutual, here to provide the best for our 15 million members. That means investing in people and technology, researching and innovating to deliver the products and services our members deserve.

And we’ve remained true to our roots. ‘Building society, nationwide’ is more than providing mortgages - it’s supporting our local communities, funding housing initiatives, doing the right thing.

So, on our Industrial Placements, you really can have it all. Head and heart. Leading edge opportunities and social purpose.

Who we're looking for

We’re all about the power of the collective, so you’ll be using your excellent communication skills to build strong and lasting working relationships. You’ll be a quick learner, inquisitive, always focused on solutions and have the tenacity to bring them to life. In this digital age, we need people who are familiar with all the apps and devices that make our world go round too.

Our members are at the heart of everything we do, so a passion for providing excellent customer service is a must. The path to the right result is rarely straightforward so you’ll have to be comfortable navigating challenges and managing ambiguity. As a high performing, ambitious deliverer, we’ll rely on you to be decisive, organised and proactive.

What you'll be doing

Our 12 month placement provides you with a valuable first look at what it’s like to work for us, whilst giving you real responsibility and accountability. On-the-job learning is crucial to understanding the skills and expertise required in any role so from the day you start, you'll be doing a real job with clear expectations and targets.

This year we’re asking you to choose which disciplines best suits your interest and skill set; Analyst, Change, Customer & Employee Experience, Finance, Modelling and Risk. You’ll be based within one specific business area throughout your time with us, developing your experience and business knowledge. We view our Industrial Placements as a pipeline into our Graduate Programmes.

The extras you'll get

As well as a fixed term contract and a competitive starting salary (£17,682 pa), as a valued member of the team we offer you:

12 month placement from Sept 2019 until Sept 2020

Give you a real job - you’ll be contributing to the organisation while you learn

Performance based annual bonus and benefits

Give you 24 holidays per year, on top of national Bank Holidays

A company pension where if you pay 7% we’ll top up to 23%

Access to training to help you progress and develop your skills

           Relocation assistance where applicable

Why work for us

At Nationwide, we’re here for our members and we put their needs first in everything we do. And now, more than ever, two things are helping us go from strength to strength: we put our customers first, and we’re known for being open, honest and trustworthy.

We’re also the world’s largest building society, with communities at the heart of everything we do. We aim to do the right thing for our members which helps set us apart from our competitors. But we need good people to help us do it. People who understand what we believe in, and have the talent and drive to keep us successful.
