A brand-new opportunity has just become available for a Data Centre Engineer to join an expanding team at an innovative blue-chip company at their Head Office in Hatfield.

Working as part of a small expert team, the primary focus of the Data Centre Engineer is to ensure the continued availability of the company's business-critical systems, along with the continuous improvement of the datacentres infrastructure & hardware. As sites are dispersed across England, the successful Data Centre Engineer must also be prepared to travel to assist with the physical element of datacentre maintenance, such as stacking & racking servers and installation of new equipment.

Working as a Data Centre Engineer, your role will include:

* Installation and commissioning of new server/network/storage equipment, hardware swap-outs and component replacements.

* Asset management of all Server room infrastructure.

* Managing/maintaining the data centre facilities including power, cooling and overall capacity.

* Arranging orders and deliveries with external suppliers and consultants, including utilities, manufacturers, vendors, and contractors.

* Working with implementation teams to properly test and validate installation, operation, and performance of newly delivered facilities.

To be considered for the Data Centre Engineer position, you will need to demonstrate:

* In depth understanding of mechanical and electrical equipment/design related to datacentres (i.e. uninterruptible power sources, generators, power distribution units, automatic/static transfer switches and air conditioners)

* Proven experience of working with critical infrastructure within enterprise scale datacentres.

* Good knowledge of structured cabling (copper or fibre).

* Electrical engineering background would be advantageous.
