West Yorkshire Police are looking to recruit two IT Project Managers to join the new Digital Policing Directorate based in Wakefield.

As part of the newly formed Digital Innovation team you will influence the future technological composition and direction of the organisation by implementing innovative new technologies to drive efficiency and effectiveness in policing. Working as part of a small dedicated team you will work to support the whole organisation in delivering a wide and varied portfolio of IT projects at a national, regional and local level.

The scope of your responsibilities will include managing and controlling the effective and efficient design and delivery of a wide range of IT related projects. This includes ensuring projects are managed professionally using appropriate project management techniques to ensure completion to agreed timescales, quality and budget.

We are seeking candidates who are able to demonstrate their proven ability to lead, motivate and direct project teams comprising of internal stakeholders, professional support and external suppliers. We also require proven evidence of experience in successfully influencing senior managers.

The successful candidates will have a detailed knowledge of project management methodologies and substantive experience in IT project planning, delivery and control and will have experience of using Microsoft Project or similar Project management software. They will also hold the Prince2 Practitioner and comprehensive up to date knowledge of Prince2 methodologies or hold an equivalent Project Management qualification. You will also hold a relevant degree or the equivalent experience.

You will be able to demonstrate your significant experience of leading, developing, managing and delivering major corporate technology projects. This will include the interpretation of business needs into technical requirements and system specifications into tender documentation and oversee implementation.

Detailed knowledge and experience of technology change and delivery methodologies in a service orientated environment is essential.

Knowledge of procurement activities, risk and issue management, budget management and benefits management would be desirable.

Owing to the nature of this role, you must be willing and able to travel for business purposes, in order to be considered for this position.

The successful candidates will be subject to personal and financial vetting checks prior to appointment.
