Senior Business Intelligence Developer

Working for a global retail company who are recognised by all worldwide, the successful candidate will have the opportunity's to work in a well funded and talented Business intelligence team. My client has invested well in their BI function and is using the latest's tools and technologies - They understand the importance of data and how it is used and stored.

Key focus of this role is building the new global data warehouse using Azure SQL Data Warehouse and Azure Data Factory services. You will be responsible to Own, develop and maintain the company data warehouse ensuring that it is meets the data needs of the organization. To Design, development and testing of database solutions; defining and specifying the physical structure of the database and corresponding functional capabilities including security, back-up, and recovery. To Design, develop and deploy data load processes for data marts and big data platforms using SQL Server, Hadoop, Hive, data integration tools such as SSIS.

Working in a team of developers to support and develop routines across all aspects for the business, utilising the SQL Server Database within the business and implementing BI solutions Inc. ( Data marts, Data models, MI Reports and dashboards) to meet requirements through analysis, design, development, tests and support of the solution.

Experience:

*At least 5 years' experience designing, developing and managing data warehousing solutions

*At least 3 years' experience dimensional modelling experience following Kimball Methodology

*At least 5 years' experience in the extraction, transformation and load of data into data warehouse solutions using SSIS or other similar tools.

*Development of big data solutions using Hadoop & Hive

*Manipulation and analysis of large data sets (Billion plus records) to create business reports

*Experience of troubleshooting data issues and identifying appropriate solutions.

Knowledge:

*Conceptual understanding of data modelling, database design and query optimisation.

*Understanding of cloud infrastructure & databases (Azure, AWS, Goolge)

*Knowledge of Big Data technologies and data processing techniques

Skills / Abilities:

*Azure HDInsight / Hortonworks / Hadoop

*Development of user defined functions using Java / Scala

*Proficiency in Python

*Highly proficient in T-SQL / HiveQL

*Great communication skills, both verbal and written

*Excellent attention to detail
