Network Storage Specialist

Description:
- Under broad direction, oversee installation, maintenance, security, and day-to-day monitoring of storage infrastructure. - Coordinate and manage overall system maintenance.
- Provide root cause analysis and resolution for alerts and events and resolve incidents in response to escalated tickets. - Demonstrated proficiency in key solutions such as Data Sharing, Network Attached Storage (NAS), Disaster Recovery preparation, and integration of these capabilities with Cloud Computing and Cyber architectures.
- Ability to work with cluster file systems and other technologies to provide redundancy and availability for server farms and applications.
- Experience with administering Windows Operating Systems and Windows Operating Systems environment.
- Experience with storage network devices. Possess experience working with vendor-neutral storage networking solutions and technologies.
- Know storage concepts, disc technology, storage architectures, storage management, and storage and networking protocols, such as Fiber Channel protocols and Internet Small Computer System Interface (iSCSI).
- Possess beyond entry-level certifications in vendor solutions such as Veritas, EMC, NetApp, or Tivoli, etc. Possess Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA) Certified Storage Engineer certification.
- Required Certifications: Beyond entry level certification in Veritas, EMC, NettApp, or Tivoli. SNIA Certified Storage Engineer Cert.
Education:
- High School or equivalent.
Experience:
- 10+ years.
Essential Job Functions:
- Analyses, logs, tracks and resolves complex software/hardware matters of significance pertaining to networking connectivity issues, servers, and applications to meet business needs.
- Coordinates hardware/software installations and upgrades to ensure work is properly performed in accordance with company policy.
- Recommends resolution to complex matters of significance and coordinates the implementation of the approved course of action.
- Coordinates and monitors troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose common system problems; documents system events to ensure continuous functioning.
- Recommends course of action and implements as approved.
Oversees the installation of client department-specific applications and systems.
- Ensures installations are in accordance with appropriate operating procedures; determines revisions or updates to installation as needed.
Coordinates testing, upgrades and configuration of system files and services.
- Ensures changes are in accordance with appropriate operating procedures; recommends revisions or changes based upon results.
- Prepares for and prescribes approaches to possible downstream implications.
- Utilizes standard corporate tools to record change and problem activities for tracking purposes.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, or related field preferred
- Four or more years of experience with computer systems or networking
- Experience working with computer hardware for installation and upgrades, software installation/ upgrading procedures, and file and system maintenance procedures

- Good analytical and problem solving skills to troubleshoot systems problems
- Good communication skills to communicate with support personnel, customers, and managers
