BI Developer

Location - London

Rate - £450 - £500

Duration - 3 Months +

IR35 - INSIDE (Must use Umbrella Company)

Education / qualification and training

Relevant Postgraduate qualification, professional IT qualification or equivalent standard achieved through work experience.

Certified Microsoft BI Professional.

Working in an ITIL based support environment (ITIL Qualified).

Minimum Experience building DataMarts.

Project Management qualification, e.g. Prince2, Scrum.

Knowledge / skills

Hands on development and implementation of Data Mart, SSRS, SSIS, SSAS, T-SQL.

Strong knowledge of data solution tools and technologies particular to MS stack.

Knowledge of systems analysis, design skills, and relevant methodologies.

Good general knowledge of all components of a typical institution-wide IT solution (client devices, networks, software stacks, etc.).

Understanding of the role of non-functional requirements (e.g. security, availability, performance, disaster recovery, scalability, etc.) in the solution design process.

A broad understanding of IT service management principles and best practice.

Problems solving, critical thinking and innovation skills.

Excellent communication skills. The ability to listen and interpret needs into requirements. Able to engage with stakeholders at all levels and present ideas in clearly.

Ability to work independently to research best practice solutions and technologies.

Understanding of IT service considerations around on-prem, managed, and cloud environments.

Knowledge of business process modelling techniques and tools.

Knowledge of data modelling techniques and tools.

Experience

Experience with creating BI solutions, building data warehouses (Data Marts) and constructing data models.

Organised and led BI projects providing oversight and direction with regard to architectures, design, mentorship and issue resolution.

Experience of working in a developing Agile and Dev-Ops environment able to mentor others on best practice and approach.

Understanding of the full project lifecycle from concept through to benefits realisation developed through real-life project experience.

Experience of gathering non-functional requirements, and producing technical designs based on those requirements.

Experienced in Microsoft stack application developer with specific experience developing SSIS packages for data extraction and SSAS cubes for data analysis.

Hands on experience developing reporting solutions using Power BI report server. (SQL Server 2016/2017)

Experience in Azure MSBI and Azure Data Lake

Experience developing analysis and reporting solutions with Microsoft BI Tools such as: SQL Server 2012, 2016, 2017, SSRS, SSIS, SSAS, MDS, DQS, Power BI

Knowledge of MDX and DAX to the extent that one can create basic queries, calculated measures, named sets, and year-on-year comparison queries/expressions

Experience using SharePoint & Office 365

Experience of Source Control tools
