Spring Technology's client, a public sector organisation, are currently looking to recruit a Web User Researcher for an initial 6 month contract based in Edinburgh on a rate of £350-410/day (outside of IR35).

Responsibilities:

* Part of a team whose remit is to implement a new improved website.

* Helping to refine the organisation's user centred research and testing approaches and supporting this work.

* Helping to integrate these with the development of quality content for a new Beta website which focuses on top tasks and services, based on user research.

* Be an advocate for user-focused design which reflects user behaviours, needs, and motivations.

* Plan, design and carry out research activities with users that help the team to better understand how people want to use and consume our services.

* Working as part of a multi-disciplinary, agile team to understand user behaviour and feedback.

* Support the development and implementation of user centred approaches to new governance models and Digital Design Standards as part of the overall delivery of the organisation's web and online roadmap programme.

Requirements:

* Experienced User Researcher with ideally experience working within the public sector.

* Experience of researching, writing, validating and sharing user needs.

* Experience applying user centred design practices and embedding them into an agile workflow to deliver timely findings.

* Understanding the social and technological context helping communicate how digital technology is changing user behaviour and the challenges and opportunities for online services.

* Ability to work in an open, iterative and collaborative way in a multidisciplinary team.

* Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships and influence colleagues and stakeholders.

* Experience of leading stakeholder workshops.

Desirable Skills:

* Knowledge of, and practical experience of applying, web standards including accessibility and metadata.

* Ability to write and produce high-quality, plain English content.

* Knowledge of Agile project management methodology and working in a multidisciplinary team.

* Knowledge of content management system Sitecore.

* Knowledge of design and prototyping software including Axure, Sketch and Figma.

* Working knowledge of VSTS to support Agile working.
