The IT PMO Manager will manage a team of five PMO staff responsible for setting project delivery standards and practices, conducting assurance against these standards, and providing a support service for project delivery and reporting across all portfolios.

Overview

*

* Standards and practices - Manage and maintain guidance and templates for the project delivery process including the stage-gate delivery lifecycle and all project management practices including management of issues & risks, dependencies, scheduling, resources, requirements, change, business benefit and project finances

* Cross-portfolio support - Put in place and maintain an effective reporting process such that actionable management information can be provided from project data

* Finance - Liaise with the finance function to manage any rate changes, finance policy changes or any changes to the ERP system which may impact projects

* Audit, assurance and performance management - Implement and audit an assurance framework to be used for all project delivery, tailorable by project size and complexity

* Secretariat and office management - Managing the project request process, including chairing review of new work requests, the allocation of project codes, the allocation of project workspaces and the configuration of the projects toolset (currently Microsoft project Server)

* Toolset management and strategy- Manage the Enterprise Project Management tool (currently Microsoft), ensuring management to SLA, and controlled management of change

* Team management & leadership - Build, manage and lead a team of PMO professionals working to the highest standards. Have the commercial acumen to divide work activity between team members to ensure a cost effective team structure.

Key Skills

* Extensive experience of running a PMO function within an Enterprise projects delivery organisation with experience on an enterprise project toll (I.e. Planview).

* Deep expertise in project methods is required, hence must be Project Management qualified such as IS Project Management (Higher Level), MAPM - Member of the Association for Project Management, PMP ® - Project Management Professional, Practitioner Certificate in PRINCE2 ®, Chartered IT Professional (CITP), MSP (Managing Successful Programmes), SCRUM Master, PMI ACP, APMG AgilePM

* Although the role does not involve project delivery, past experience of running projects is important in order to have the necessary credibility with the projects community, so extensive experience of senior Project Management experience is required

* PMO / portfolio management qualification such as P3O desirable

* Ability to directly line manage a distributed project team of approximately 5

* Personable and professional leadership style that is customer focused, and always strives to achieve a win-win scenario despite having to resolve conflict and take difficult decisions

The successful candidate will be required to obtain MOD SC Security clearance
