Software Development Manager

An opportunity has arisen with a big data and analysis company, based in the centre of Glasgow this company are changing the way that chemistry is done, by developing a platform that reads real time data to improve productivity and discovery for Scientists around the world. This opportunity is for someone to join the company and oversee the software development team, ensuring they deliver software on time, to specification, quality and budget.

Responsibilities

* Management of the software development team and its Agile processes.

* Take charge of the recruitment drive for the software development team.

* Drive a young dynamic growth environment and maintain and enhance their vibrant start-up feel.

* Enhance current development process for increased delivery and adaptability to different business directions.

* Work closely with CTO to ensure the platform follows the company's long-term Data ambitions.

* Work closely with the product manager to ensure user expectations are realised in development features.

* Liaise with the Chemistry team to ensure the capture of great data for research.

Requirements

* Over 7 years' experience within the IT sector

* Experience in 2 or more leadership positions, managing teams, budgets and planning development.

* Ability to hire, train, retain, motivate and manage staff.

* Strong technical skills, with knowledge of modern software languages, platforms and current methodologies.

* Understanding and experience of facets of developing straight to the cloud, whether Azure, AWS or GCP.
