At the Home Office, we are working towards the common goals of keeping the British public safe and enhancing the nation’s wellbeing. Our work is high-profile, fast-paced, and offers access to the types of large-scale projects that cannot be matched elsewhere. Tasked with controlling immigration, cutting crime, preventing terrorism and promoting economic growth, our people work across challenges that range from tackling anti-social behaviour and drug use, to exploring innovative technologies that will support policing capabilities.

With the increased threats that Britain is facing including the emergence of new technology, we are facing critical challenges that must be addressed quickly and efficiently. Our impending exit from the European Union has made this period of change even more demanding, and as such we are seeking motivated and ambitious Project Managers to join us and drive our vision. With 25 major programmes currently underway, plus four operational business portfolios of change we have a wide range of projects in terms of scope, size and complexity.

The right person for this role will provide clear oversight to their projects. Defining the parameters of that task - including budgetary requirements, quality controls and the timescale in which it will be delivered - you will use your PM experience of delivering and managing projects to address risk and apply the appropriate methodologies every step of the way. Using your exceptional communication capabilities to engage with stakeholders in your project and help deliver the best solutions, you will be a confident negotiator and influencer, with the drive to deliver the agreed results. Crucially, you will not be phased by working reactively to address the evolving needs of your project, maintaining a steady hand in a period of ongoing change, and guiding the team to help them achieve their goals.

Ideally you will have a relevant project management qualification, but it is also important to us that we are representative of the people we serve - so regardless of what background you come from, we would encourage you to apply for this role if you have transferrable skills. In turn, we will support you with training and development opportunities, plus a good work/life balance that is enhanced by flexible working options, including the chance to join us in a full-time, part-time or job-share capacity. You will also have access to a generous pension, 34 days of holiday inclusive of bank holidays, and one extra day of leave for the Queen’s birthday.

This is a unique opportunity to make a tangible difference to the British population, so if you would enjoy working in a supportive profession who are keen to help you achieve your goals, then do not hesitate to get in touch.
