IT Strategic Design is a new team within the Business Systems directorate. A key objective of the team is to bring a more disciplined design process to how SQA initiates major change, particularly those which involve a high degree of IT change. The team will work collaboratively with both business and technical teams to initiate, design, deliver and govern across a wide range of projects in support of SQA’s business and technology strategies.

We are looking for an Enterprise Architect with a strong business focus to work within the team to deliver high-quality, continually improving, efficient and responsive services to our customers. SQA are embarking on a wide ranging change programme that will require business focused architectural leadership to support the delivery of our key services. Additionally, this role will be responsible for leading all business aspects of the Enterprise Architecture function of the team.

The successful candidate will be required to collaborate on a transformational design of SQA’s services, supporting the definition and governance of the organisation’s enterprise architecture. This will take into account relevant architectures, strategies and policies and result in the development of new and existing capabilities that support the corporate goals and objectives. In order to do this you must be able to demonstrate experience in the following specific duties:

- Building a holistic view of the organisation's service maps, capabilities ( technical and organisational ), processes, information and technology and using this knowledge to ensure that the business and IT are in alignment during transformational change initiatives that link the business vision, mission and strategy.

- Championing the Strategic Design function within SQA to ensure business support for structured transformational change across its core services.

- Responsibility for creating, maintaining and ownership of the business architecture views to clearly demonstrate how the underlying capabilities, processes and data interoperates and supports the business units within SQA and its wider stakeholders.

- Assisting with the planning, estimation and prioritisation of new architecture design, policy and business improvements to ensure alignment with the Target Architecture.

- Leading a set of architecture resources, specifically Business Architects and Data Architects to ensure their deliverables align with the Enterprise Architecture framework.

Additionally you must be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

-Undertaking design assurance on key programme and project deliverables to ensure modifications to architectures take account of relevant strategies, policies, standards and practices while ensuring that existing and planned capabilities remain compatible.

-Responsibility for creating, maintaining and ownership of the business architecture views to clearly demonstrate how the underlying capabilities, processes and data interoperates and supports the business units.

-Providing consultancy and advice on business architecture change and the impact of that change on an enterprise level to ensure compatibility with the technical architecture

Applicants, as a minimum, should be educated to SCQF Level 9 (SVQ4/Degree) and/or be able to demonstrate direct relevant experience for this role.
